Hyundai Motor India Ltd. conducted its 10th Hyundai Technician National Skill Olympics at the manufacturing plant in Sriperumbudur Chennai.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Y K Koo, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Limited said, “Hyundai’s technicians form an integral part in making the brand Hyundai, the Most Preferred and Trusted brand that we are today. Hyundai’s constant endeavour is to upgrade and enhance the skill sets of our technicians and provide them the right dexterity that can harness their capabilities. Our Technician National Skill Olympics is a platform that aims to capture their true potential.  Being a customer centric company, we strive to provide the best technical resources from across the industry, that can benefit our customers in every possible way.”

To upgrade and refresh the skills of technicians and make them familiar with the latest technological developments, Hyundai conducts a series of training programs every year. The participants were tested for their ability to see technological customized problems in cars and components to meet international standards. Competition included several rounds of practical and written examinations (sequence changed). Skill Olympics also evaluates the technological compatibility of digital service, i.e. the concept of workshop automation. In this version of the National Tennis Skills Olympics, HMIL added another feather with the first digital version in its cap – It was paperless from written assessment to practical evaluation through various Hyundai mobile apps.

This year more than 1,300 service workshops and more than 5,500 technicians participated in this skill Olympics. Out of the total participants, 18 zonal champions have qualified for the closing of the 10th National Skill Olympics held in Chennai.

Hyundai will refine the skills of these top six winners in a year and the top two technicians will represent HMIL in the World Skill Olympics in 2019 in South Korea.
