Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot on Thursday announced that diesel vehicles older than 10 years can be retrofitted with electric kits by approved testing agencies. Then these vehicles can continue running on roads beyond 10 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Delhi is now open to ICE to electric retrofitting! Vehicles if found fit can convert their diesel to electric engine, dept&#39;ll empanel manufacturers of pure electric kit by approved testing agencies. National Green Tribunal in 2015 and Supreme Court in 2018 have banned 10-year-old diesel and 15-year old petrol vehicles in the Delhi NCR region. So, the new step will help old diesel vehicle owners to continue using the vehicles by adopting EV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Transport Minister also confirmed that electric light commercial vehicles will be allowed entry on about 250 roads during no-entry hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also noted that government&#8217;s EV policy also helped in increasing EV adoption in the state. When the EV policy was launched, there were only 46 light commercial vehicles. They are now 1,054.
