In a fresh public notice, the Transport Department said that vehicles classified as ELVs will be impounded and sent for scrappage without further notice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The move follows existing court directions and pollution control regulations aimed at reducing vehicular emissions in Delhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Which Vehicles Are Affected<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the current rules:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Diesel vehicles older than 10 years<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Petrol vehicles older than 15 years<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vehicles complying with BS III or older emission norms<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>All such vehicles are classified as end of life vehicles in Delhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Authorities have clarified that these vehicles are not allowed to operate or remain parked in public places. This includes roads, markets and other open public areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">No Exemptions Based On Condition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Transport Department has clearly stated that there will be no relaxation based on vehicle condition or limited usage. Even if a vehicle is well maintained or used occasionally, it will still fall under the ELV category if it crosses the prescribed age limit or emission norm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enforcement teams have been instructed to take action wherever such vehicles are found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Immediate Impounding And Scrappage<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As per the notice, ELVs identified within Delhi will be seized and directly sent for scrappage. Individual notices will not be issued before action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The department says the objective is to curb air pollution levels in the capital, which continues to face serious air quality challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Transfer Outside NCR Allowed With NOC<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Vehicle owners who wish to retain their vehicles have the option to transfer them outside the National Capital Region. However, this can only be done after obtaining a valid No Objection Certificate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Without an NOC, ELVs will not be permitted to move out of Delhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Stronger Enforcement Push<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This crackdown reinforces earlier directives from courts and pollution authorities.
