Mahindra has launched the updated version of its electric SUV, the BE 6<\/strong>, in India. The electric SUV is now called the BE 6 SPORTEQ<\/strong> and gets several updates over the outgoing model. The biggest change is the introduction of a new 70kWh battery pack, while Mahindra has also revised the variants, added new colours and upgraded the cabin with more features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The overall design of the BE 6 remains largely unchanged, so this is not a major facelift. Instead, Mahindra has focused on improving the equipment and powertrain options while making the cabin more premium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prices for the BE 6 SPORTEQ start at Rs 19.45 lakh<\/strong> and go up to Rs 26.95 lakh (ex-showroom)<\/strong>. The company has also retained the 59kWh and 79kWh battery options alongside the new 70kWh battery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mahindra BE 6 SPORTEQ price and variants<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The updated BE 6 SPORTEQ is available in several variants, including SPORTEQ One, SPORTEQ Two, SPORTEQ Three, SPORTEQ Three Plus, SPORTEQ Four and SPORTEQ Launch Edition. Mahindra has also introduced two Formula E versions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The entry-level SPORTEQ One and SPORTEQ Two variants with the 59kWh battery can also be purchased under Mahindra’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) scheme. This reduces the initial purchase price, with customers paying Rs 3.75 per km for the battery service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mahindra has also introduced the Formula E Edition<\/strong> in two versions. The Formula E variant is based on the SPORTEQ Three and costs Rs 24.45 lakh<\/strong>, while the Formula E Freedom Edition<\/strong> is based on the SPORTEQ Four and costs Rs 26.95 lakh<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Formula E variants get additional design changes and larger 20-inch wheels. Bookings for the BE 6 SPORTEQ are now open through Mahindra dealerships and the company’s official website. Deliveries are scheduled to begin on August 26<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The BE 6 SPORTEQ continues with the same aggressive design that made the electric SUV stand out from other models in its segment. It retains the coupe-SUV silhouette, sharp body lines and aerodynamic creases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the front, the SUV gets C-shaped connected LED daytime running lights along with slim LED headlamps. A silver skid plate, gloss-black elements and LED fog lamps complete the front design. The side profile continues with the sloping coupe-like roofline, flush door handles and 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The Formula E variants get larger 20-inch wheels. At the rear, the BE 6 retains its two-part roof spoiler, illuminated Mahindra logo and large C-shaped LED tail lamps. The Launch Edition also gets an exclusive badge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The biggest visual changes come from the new colour options rather than the overall design. Mahindra has added three new colours to the BE 6 SPORTEQ range:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Graphite Storm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    These are offered alongside existing shades including Tango Red, Firestorm Orange, Deep Forest, Desert Myst, Everest White and Stealth Black.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The Rosso Impulso<\/strong> shade is exclusive to the Formula E Edition, while Graphite Storm<\/strong> is exclusive to the Launch Edition. The Formula E Edition is also available with satin finishes for a sportier appearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The cabin is where the BE 6 SPORTEQ gets some of its biggest changes. Lower variants continue with a black and dark green interior theme, while higher variants get a new black and tan theme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The tan leatherette treatment is used on the dashboard, seats and door pads, while gloss-black inserts are used around the centre console.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The biggest change is the new three-screen setup<\/strong>. The layout is similar to what Mahindra offers in models such as the XEV 9e and XEV 9S. The central halo-style partition has been removed to accommodate the new screen arrangement. This also creates additional space for two cupholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Mahindra has added several new features to the BE 6 SPORTEQ. One of the biggest additions is a 12.3-inch passenger entertainment display<\/strong>, which sits alongside the main infotainment screen and digital instrument cluster. The SUV also gets Google Gemini-based TEQ suites and personalised tailgate messaging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Other major features include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and dual wireless phone chargers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The feature list also includes a six-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat with memory function, panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, powered tailgate, connected car technology and ventilated front seats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The BE 6 SPORTEQ offers 455 litres of boot space<\/strong>. It also gets a 45-litre front storage compartment<\/strong>, or frunk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The additional storage space can be used to store the portable charging cable and other smaller items, giving the electric SUV more practical storage than a conventional boot-only setup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Safety remains one of the strong points of the BE 6. The SPORTEQ gets seven airbags, electronic stability control, a tyre pressure monitoring system and all-wheel disc brakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    It also gets a Level 2+ ADAS suite, front and rear parking sensors, hill hold assist, traction control and a 540-degree camera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The existing BE 6 has already received a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating<\/strong>, giving the new version a strong safety foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The biggest mechanical update is the new 70kWh battery pack<\/strong>. It sits between the existing 59kWh and 79kWh battery options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The range figures are based on the MIDC Part 1 + Part 2 testing cycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The 70kWh version produces 245 PS, while the 59kWh battery version produces 232 PS. The larger 79kWh battery continues to be the most powerful option, with 286 PS. All three versions produce 380 Nm of torque.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The 79kWh version also supports up to 180kW DC fast charging<\/strong>. Mahindra claims that it can charge from 20 percent to 80 percent in around 20 minutes under suitable charging conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The BE 6 SPORTEQ competes in the premium electric SUV segment against models such as the Tata Sierra EV, VinFast VF7, MG ZS EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti e Vitara, Tata Curvv EV and Toyota Ebella<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
