Kia India has launched the 2025 Carens Clavis EV, its first mass-market electric MPV in the country. The EV starts at ₹17.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and is available in three variants: HTK+, HTX, and HTX+.
The Clavis EV comes in two powertrain options: Standard Range and Extended Range. Here’s a look at the pricing:
| Variant | Standard Range | Extended Range |
|---|---|---|
| HTK+ | ₹17.99 lakh | — |
| HTX | ₹20.49 lakh | ₹22.49 lakh |
| HTX+ | — | ₹24.49 lakh |
The Standard Range gets a 42 kWh battery, while the Extended Range uses a bigger 51.4 kWh battery pack.
The Carens Clavis EV is no slouch when it comes to range and performance.
It also supports 100 kW fast charging, which can charge the battery from 10% to 80% in just 39 minutes.
While the overall shape and design look similar to the petrol/diesel version of the Clavis, the EV comes with EV-specific updates. There’s a blanked-off grille, a light bar connecting the LED DRLs, and triangular LED headlights.
The side profile remains mostly the same, with new aero-optimized alloy wheels and roof rails for a rugged touch. At the back, you get the same connected LED tail lamps and a tweaked rear bumper.
Unlike the ICE Clavis, which comes in 6- and 7-seater options, the Clavis EV is only available as a 7-seater. On the inside, the dashboard remains unchanged — clean and modern, with a dual-screen layout and a two-spoke steering wheel.
The missing transmission tunnel frees up space in the centre console for extra storage.
Kia has loaded the Carens Clavis EV with premium features: 12.3-inch infotainment system, 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, Panoramic sunroof, Ventilated front seats, 8-speaker Bose sound system, Wireless phone charger, Powered driver’s seat, Ambient lighting, and Vehicle-to-load (V2L) function.
On the safety front, the Clavis EV offers: 6 airbags (standard), ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree camera, Electronic parking brake with auto hold, and Level-2 ADAS.
The Kia Carens Clavis EV will rival the BYD e6, and can also be seen as an electric alternative to MPVs like the Toyota Innova Hycross and Maruti Invicto. It will also face competition from upcoming electric SUVs like the Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, and Mahindra BE.6.
