Mahindra has officially unveiled the production version of its new lifestyle pickup truck, and it is called the Scorpio Lifestyler. Based on the Scorpio N, the new pickup brings the familiar SUV platform into a dual-cab pickup body with a large cargo bed, more rugged styling and a strong focus on off-road capability.
The Scorpio Lifestyler marks Mahindra’s return to the lifestyle pickup segment in India. It will take on established players such as the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu V-Cross when it goes on sale.
Although the Scorpio Lifestyler shares its foundation with the Scorpio N, Mahindra has made several changes to give it a more aggressive pickup-truck character. At the front, it gets a large rectangular grille with chrome detailing, flanked by squared-off LED headlamps.
The front bumper also gets a more rugged treatment with a chunky skid plate and black surrounds around the LED fog lamps. The overall design is upright and muscular, which suits the pickup’s lifestyle positioning.
From the side, the Scorpio Lifestyler gets a dual-cab layout with an upright windshield, a familiar Scorpio-style window line and roof rails. A snorkel mounted on the front fender adds to its off-road look, while 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels give the pickup a more premium appearance.
The rear is relatively simple, with squared-off LED tail lamps, a tailgate carrying large Mahindra lettering and a rugged bumper.
Mahindra will also offer three special themes for the Scorpio Lifestyler. These are called Valley Edition, Reef Edition and Trail Edition. Each theme gets its own colour and additional design elements such as decals.
The pickup will be available in three main colours: Aquareef, Sahara Beige and Artemis Grey.
Mahindra has not revealed the complete interior of the production Scorpio Lifestyler yet. However, the teasers show a cabin that looks significantly more premium than a traditional work-focused pickup.
The dashboard gets a large portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system along with a new four-spoke steering wheel featuring an aluminium insert. The centre console gets silver accents and a rotary dial for the four-wheel-drive system.
A digital instrument cluster will also be part of the package. The display is expected to offer multiple information and customisation options.
Mahindra appears to be positioning the Scorpio Lifestyler as a lifestyle vehicle rather than a basic utility pickup. This means the cabin is expected to offer a level of comfort and technology closer to the Scorpio N.
The company has not announced the complete feature list yet, but the Scorpio Lifestyler is expected to get a long list of features. These could include a large touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital driver’s display, a single-pane sunroof and dual-zone automatic climate control.
The pickup is also expected to get powered and ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, keyless entry, push-button start/stop and a premium audio system.
This feature list would make the Scorpio Lifestyler quite different from traditional lifestyle pickups, which usually focus more heavily on utility and off-road capability.
The Scorpio Lifestyler is expected to use the same basic powertrain options as the updated Scorpio N. This should include a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. The petrol engine produces up to 203 PS and 380 Nm, while the diesel engine develops up to 175 PS and 400 Nm. Both engines are expected to be available with six-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmissions.
The petrol version is expected to remain rear-wheel drive, while the diesel could be offered with four-wheel drive. The 4×4 system should make the Scorpio Lifestyler more capable on rough terrain and trails.
Mahindra is also expected to offer a comprehensive safety package with the new pickup. One of the major additions could be Level 2 ADAS, although the complete safety feature list has not been revealed yet.
Other expected features include six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill hold control and front and rear parking sensors.
The Scorpio Lifestyler could also get the 540-degree camera system seen on some of Mahindra’s newer models. Such a system can be particularly useful for a large pickup when navigating tight spaces or tackling off-road sections.
Mahindra plans to reveal the price of the Scorpio Lifestyler in April 2027. It is expected to start at around Rs 19.79 lakh (ex-showroom), although the final price will be announced closer to the launch.
The pickup will compete primarily with the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu V-Cross become one of the more interesting alternatives to conventional SUVs for buyers looking for something different.
