Volvo has launched small and affordable SUV the XC40 in India. The new Volvo XC40 comes only in one variant called the R-Design. The new compact SUV has been launched at a introductory price of Rs. 39.90 Lakh (ex-showroom India). The XC40 is smallest SUV of Volvo. The booking of XC40 has been started for a booking amount of Rs. 5 lakh. The XC40 gets typical Volvo front design.

The new Volvo XC40 comes with the distinctive front grille and rear tail lamps along with the chunky headlamps with a more stylish version of the Thor’s hammer LED daytime running light. The R-Design variant comes in dual tone paint. The new bold grill and the smoked headlamps gets black treatment. The roof is also black with blackened A-pillars which is standard for all color tones.

The steering wheel gets three spoke with leather stitching and it is standard in the R-Design trim. The new SUV also comes with Wireless Phone Charging, panoramic sunroof,a 13 speaker Harman Kardon sound system, and the virtual instrument cluster. It also gets 7 airbags.

The Volvo XC40 is powered by 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that generates max power of 187 bhp and and a peak torque of 400 Nm. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The car will compete with the rivals the BMW X1, Audi Q3, Mercedes-Benz GLA, The Range Rover Evoque and new Lexus NX.
