A new-generation superbike BMW S 1000 RR has been launched in India. The S 1000 RR has been launched at starting prices of Rs. 18.50 Lakh goes up to Rs. 22.95 Lakh for the top variant. The new S 1000 RR comes with a new engine along with big work change on the body. The new bike gets a sharp look first time but now bike doesn’t have its trademark asymmetrical headlamps.
The bike is powered by a new 998 cc in-line four cylinder engine which generates max power of 204 bhp and a peak torque of 113 Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and a bi-directional quick-shifter. The bike gets BMW Motorrad’s Shiftcam technology which controls the valve timings and stroke on the intake side to provide better performance in the bottom end and the mid-range. The new model is 11 kg lighter then the previous one as it weighs 197 kg. The new engine is 4 kg lighter while the new exhaust is 1.3 kg lighter then the previous one.
The design of all new BMW S 1000 RR is light fast and uncompromising. The new bike is built using lighter twin-spar Aluminium frame and a trellis sub-frame with compact fairings. The low level front section gives the a light, athletic appearence. The new-generation BMW S 1000 RR gets a 6.5-inch TFT instrument console along with Bluetooth connectivity.
The new BMW S 1000 RR is fitted with ABS pro, DTC, and DTC Wheelie Function as standard. For different conditions, the bike gets different modes including ‘Rain’, ‘Road’, ‘Dynamic’, ‘Race’.
