Yamaha Motor India has launched an updated version of MT-09 in India. The new 2019 Yamaha MT-09 has been launched at a price of Rs. 10.55 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Booking for the new MT-09 has already commenced at Yamaha dealerships pan India and deliveries should begin in the coming weeks. The updated Yamaha MT-09 comes with subtle tweaks for the year 2019 including new paint schemes and graphics while retaining the same powertrain.
The 2019 Yamaha MT-09 gets the Night Fluo paint option that is now available with the Yamaha Blu and Tech Black color options. The MT-09 logo equipped at fuel tank now comes with a red finish. With the new color scheme, the outlook of the motorcycle is almost the same which continues to get the alien-inspired twin-pod LED headlamps, slender yet sharp 14-liter fuel tank and split seats. The red painted alloy wheels create a nice contrast against the colors on the bike.
The 2019 Yamaha MT-09 is powered by the same 847 cc in-line three-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which generates a max power of 113 bhp at 10,000 rpm and a peak torque of 87.5 Nm at 8500 rpm. The engine is mated with a 6-speed gearbox and gets the Quick Shift System (QSS) for faster upshifts. The MT-09 also gets ABS and traction control system along with an assist and slipper clutch. The MT-09 comes with 41 mm USD forks up front and a monoshock unit at the rear, both are adjustable. Braking performance comes from 298 mm dual discs up front and a 245 mm single disc at the rear. The kerb weight of the bike is 193 kg.
The Yamaha MT-09 will compete with the Suzuki GSX-S750, Triumph Street Triple, Ducati Monster 821 and Kawasaki Z900. Yamaha’s MT line-up will be expanded in India with the launch of the MT-15 on March 15 this year.
