The 2025 Maruti Suzuki e Vitara has achieved a full 5-star safety rating in the latest Bharat NCAP crash tests. This is an important milestone for Maruti because the e Vitara is now the company’s fourth model, after the Dzire, Victors and Invicto, to score a perfect rating. It is also Maruti’s first electric SUV, so a strong safety result helps build confidence among buyers who are shifting towards EVs.

Interestingly, the India-made e Vitara had earlier received a 4-star rating in the Euro NCAP tests. The improved performance in the Bharat NCAP assessment shows that Maruti has made clear progress in tuning the SUV for safety in the Indian market.

The e Vitara scored 31.49 out of 32 points in Adult Occupant Protection. In the frontal offset test at 64 kmph, the SUV offered ‘good’ protection to the head and neck of both the driver and passenger. The driver’s chest protection was rated ‘adequate’, while the passenger received a ‘good’ rating. Protection for thighs, pelvis, and feet was also rated ‘good’, with only the driver’s tibias scoring ‘adequate’.

The side impact test further strengthened the SUV’s score, showing ‘good’ protection for all body regions. Even in the more demanding side pole test, the electric SUV managed to maintain the same level of protection.

Child Occupant Protection was rated at 43 out of 49 points. The SUV scored full marks in both dynamic testing and child restraint installation. The 18-month-old and 3-year-old protection scores were perfect, with 12 out of 12 points each.

However, the Bharat NCAP fact sheet does not go into detailed breakdowns for child protection like the Global NCAP reports do. Still, the overall performance is excellent for a family-focused electric SUV.

Maruti has equipped the e Vitara well. It gets seven airbags, ISOFIX mounts, ESC, and Level-2 ADAS. Features like a 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake, and front and rear parking sensors add more confidence in daily driving. For an electric SUV targeted at mass buyers, this feature set feels complete.

Maruti is expected to price the e Vitara from around ₹17 lakh (ex-showroom). Production has already started at the company’s Gujarat plant. When launched, it will go up against strong rivals including the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV, and the upcoming Tata Sierra EV.
