Toyota has launched the 2025 version of its popular mid-size SUV, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, in India. The company has brought several feature enhancements, minor mechanical changes, and structural upgrades to the car. The updated Hyryder now starts at ₹11.34 lakh (ex-showroom), up from the previous ₹11.14 lakh — a modest price bump.

This update comes as Toyota continues to compete in the highly contested mid-size SUV segment, going head-to-head with rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, and Honda Elevate.

Toyota has gone all out in updating the feature list for the 2025 model year, making the Hyryder more appealing and future-ready. Here is a breakdown of the notable changes:

  • 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat for improved comfort and customization
  • Ventilated front seats, a must-have for Indian summers
  • Rear door sunshades and ambient lighting, boosting cabin’s premium feel
  • LED spot and reading lamps, enhancing visibility for passengers
  • Type-C USB fast-charging ports, catering to modern gadget users
  • Air Quality Index (AQI) display on select variants for better in-cabin air monitoring
  • Dual-tone exterior paint options and an updated speedometer with improved clarity

Toyota has taken occupant safety a notch higher with this update. The 2025 Hyryder now comes with Six airbags as standard across all variants, Structural reinforcements to enhance crash safety, and Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) to automatic variants for improved convenience and safety. These safety enhancements are not just cosmetic additions, but also bring real-world value, especially for safety-conscious buyers.

Mechanically, it retains the 1.5L petrol engine available in multiple configurations. The standard petrol and CNG variants are paired with either a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. The Strong hybrid variant is mated to an e-Drive transmission. The major mechanical update comes in the form of a 6-speed automatic transmission in the AWD variant. This makes the all-wheel-drive version more versatile and smoother to drive.

Toyota has not gone for a complete design overhaul, but it didn’t need to. It mainly focused on user comfort, safety, and driving experience. So, 2025 Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder seems like a practical SUV for Indian buyers. The standardisation of six airbags, better seating ergonomics, and hybrid versatility are steps in the right direction.

Bookings for the 2025 Urban Cruiser Hyryder are now open across dealerships and on Toyota’s official website.
