Mahindra has launched the XEV 9S, a new three-row electric SUV, at a starting price of Rs 19.95 lakh. This model now sits at the top of Mahindra’s EV lineup and is also the biggest electric SUV the company has made so far. It follows the BE 6 and XEV 9E, and becomes the third model based on Mahindra’s dedicated Inglo EV platform.
Mahindra will offer the XEV 9S in multiple packs. The base Pack One Above starts at Rs 19.95 lakh, while the Pack Two Above is priced at Rs 24.45 lakh for the 70 kWh version and Rs 25.45 lakh for the 79 kWh version. Pack Three costs Rs 27.35 lakh, and Pack Three Above sits at Rs 29.45 lakh. Test drives begin on December 5, bookings open on January 14, and deliveries will start on January 23.
At first glance, the XEV 9S may remind many of the XUV700. The silhouette is similar, but the design details are closer to the XEV 9E, especially the lighting and panels. It is almost the same height as the XUV700 but comes with a slightly longer 2,762 mm wheelbase. The SUV offers generous practicality, with 527 litres of boot space and a 150-litre frunk, making it a strong family car.

The XEV 9S uses the same platform and battery technology as the XEV 9E. Buyers can choose between 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery packs, and Mahindra has added a third option, a 70 kWh pack, for the Pack Two Above variant. Power output remains familiar as well. Lower variants make 228 bhp, while higher variants produce 282 bhp. Torque is the same for all at 380 Nm. Mahindra says the XEV 9S is the fastest seven-seat SUV under Rs 70 lakh, with a top speed of 202 kmph. The 0–100 kmph time is 7.9 seconds for the 228 bhp version and 7 seconds for the 282 bhp model.
The cabin focuses on comfort and convenience for families. The second row offers powered Boss Mode, ventilated seats, sliding and reclining adjustment, and window sunshades. The SUV also gets acoustic glass, wireless charging and several other premium touches. The third row is designed mainly for short- to medium-distance travel, but the flatter floor helps improve space.
Mahindra has packed the XEV 9S with modern safety tech. It gets seven airbags and a Level 2 ADAS suite powered by five radars and a camera. The Eyedentity system watches for driver drowsiness and ensures occupant alerts. The Secure360 Pro system offers live camera feeds, recording features and even two-way communication.
The SUV also comes with a head-up display, AutoPark Assist, a powered driver seat with memory, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon system with Dolby Atmos, 5G connectivity, ambient lighting and three 12.29-inch displays across the dashboard.
Mahindra XEV 9S aims to offer a practical seven-seat EV with strong performance, generous range options and a feature-rich cabin. It feels like a natural upgrade for families who want space and comfort but also want to shift to electric mobility.
