Maruti Suzuki has introduced the AMT option for the top-end Alpha variant of the Ignis. Maruti Ignis Alpha trim is priced at Rs 7.01 lakh (petrol) and Rs 8.08 lakh (diesel), ex-showroom Delhi. Earlier, the automatic options were available only to the mid-variants of the Ignis – the Delta and the Zeta.
While introducing AGS on IGNIS Alpha variant, Mr R S Kalsi, Senior Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, “Our premium urban compact vehicle IGNIS has been created for millennials, a none of a kind brand in the Indian market. Automatic Gear Shift (AGS) on the IGNIS, so far offered in the Delta and Zeta trims, has been widely appreciated by customers and accounts for 27% of IGNIS sales. We are now offering AGS in the top trim as well – IGNIS Alpha. We expect this to strengthen brand IGNIS and enhance the popularity of AGS among millennials.”
Maruti Suzuki has launched the Maruti Ignis back in January, 2017. Maruti Ignis is treated as premium product by customers as it has been doing well. Sales hitting around 4500 a month. Maruti Suzuki has sold 27,362 units of the Ignis till date.
Automatic trims are more popular among buyers. As per the auto experts, around 27 percent of the Ignis sales come from its automatic variants. This might be the reason Maruti Suzuki added Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) to its Alpha trim will only make it more popular among buyers.
The new trim of Maruti Ignis comes with five-speed AMT mated to the same 1.2-litre petrol engine. petrol Engine generates max power of 83bhp and 113Nm of peak torque. The 1.3-litre diesel engine producing max power of 75hp and 190Nm of torque. Apart from AMT option rest of the specs and features are unchanged inside and out.
