Tata Motors has received over 70,000 confirmed bookings for the new Sierra on its very first day. Bookings began on December 16, and customers could reserve the SUV with a token amount of Rs 25,000. In addition, around 1.35 lakh customers have submitted their preferred configurations and are waiting to complete the booking formalities. According to dealer sources, more than half of the initial bookings are for the diesel variants.
The Sierra’s introductory prices range from Rs 11.49 lakh to Rs 21.29 lakh, and deliveries are set to begin from January 15, 2026. The SUV comes with three engine options: a 106hp 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 116hp 1.5-litre diesel, and a 160hp 1.5-litre turbo-petrol. Gearbox options include a 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT for the petrol, a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic for the diesel, and a 6-speed automatic for the turbo-petrol.
The new Sierra is offered in seven trims: Smart Plus, Pure, Pure Plus, Adventure, Adventure Plus, Accomplished, and Accomplished Plus. The diesel variants have seen strong demand, reflecting that diesel still holds appeal among SUV buyers. The Sierra is one of the few midsize SUVs in India to offer a diesel option, alongside the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Tata’s own Curvv. Even for the popular Creta, diesel models continue to attract buyers, especially those with automatic transmissions.
