Kia has officially taken the wraps off the 2025 Carens Clavis in India. It is positioning as a more premium alternative to the current Carens MPV. Bookings for the Clavis will open on May 9, and it will be sold alongside the standard Carens. The Clavis will be available in seven broad variants: HTE, HTE (O), HTK, HTK Plus, HTK Plus (O), HTX, and HTX Plus.

The exterior of the Carens Clavis draws design inspiration from Kia’s EV5. It features a modern and rugged look. The front gets new triangular three-pod LED headlights, angular LED DRLs, and a clean, closed-off grille. The bumper houses a faux silver skid plate that adds to its SUV-like appearance.

From the side, the Clavis retains the familiar Carens silhouette but gains larger 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, silver roof rails, and black cladding for a more robust appeal. The rear gets a major update with connected LED tail lights joined by an illuminated light bar, and a silver-accented black bumper.

Buyers can choose from eight monotone paint options, including new shades like Ivory Silver Gloss and Pewter Olive.

Carens Clavis offers a dual-tone navy and beige interior theme with both 6- and 7-seater configurations. The dashboard layout is completely refreshed with a floating dual-screen setup—two 12.3-inch displays for infotainment and instrumentation. A new 2-spoke steering wheel, borrowed from the Kia Syros, and multifunction physical controls for both infotainment and climate add to the modern feel.

Additional interior highlights include a panoramic sunroof, foldable tray tables behind the front seats, a wireless charger, and silver accents on the center console. The Clavis also offers ventilated front seats, a 4-way powered driver’s seat, and a 9-speaker Bose sound system.

In terms of safety, Kia has equipped the Carens Clavis with six airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera, disc brakes on all wheels, electronic parking brake with auto hold, and ISOFIX mounts. It also features Level-2 ADAS with adaptive cruise control and driver attention warning.

The Clavis carries over the engine options from the existing Carens lineup. This includes a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol (115 PS/144 Nm), a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol (160 PS/253 Nm), and a 1.5-litre diesel (116 PS/250 Nm). Transmission choices range from manual and iMT to 6-speed automatic and 7-speed DCT, depending on the variant and engine.

With all these upgrades, the Kia Carens Clavis is expected to start at around ₹11 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will rival the Maruti Ertiga, Maruti XL6, Toyota Rumion, and the standard Carens.
