Maruti Suzuki has rolled out the updated Grand Vitara for the 2025 model year with several new features, more safety equipment, and a revised variant lineup. The price now starts at ₹11.42 lakh (ex-showroom), reflecting an increase of around ₹23,000 compared to the outgoing model. Along with the price revision, the company has introduced new trims, especially in the strong hybrid and all-wheel-drive (AWD) categories, enhancing the SUV’s appeal in the competitive midsize SUV segment.

New Variants and Price List

One of the key highlights of the 2025 update is the addition of new variants. Maruti Suzuki has introduced a new Delta+ strong hybrid variant priced at ₹16.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes the hybrid option more accessible. Additionally, a new Alpha AWD automatic variant has been added, replacing the previously available AWD manual trim.

Dual-tone color options are available from the Zeta trim onwards for an additional ₹16,000.

More Safety Across the Range

In a significant move, Maruti Suzuki has made six airbags standard across all variants of the Grand Vitara. Previously, only the top variants offered this level of safety, while the base variants came with dual airbags. This update is a welcome addition, aligning the SUV with growing customer expectations around passenger safety.

New Features and Equipment Enhancements

The 2025 Grand Vitara also benefits from several new convenience features. Depending on the variant, buyers will now get:

  • Air purifier with PM2.5 filter
  • Powered driver seat
  • Rear door sunshades
  • Electronic parking brake (available in mild hybrid AT variants)
  • LED cabin lighting
  • New 17-inch alloy wheels

Additionally, the panoramic sunroof, which was previously standard only on Alpha and strong hybrid variants, is now offered as an option on Zeta, Alpha, Zeta+, and Alpha+ trims. This gives buyers more flexibility when choosing their ideal variant.

No Changes to Powertrains

Mechanically, the Grand Vitara remains unchanged. It continues to be offered with two powertrain options:

Mild Hybrid

  • Engine: 1.5-litre NA petrol
  • Output: 102 bhp and 137 Nm
  • Gearbox: 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic

Strong Hybrid

  • Engine: 1.5-litre petrol + electric motor
  • Petrol Output: 91 bhp and 122 Nm
  • Electric Motor Output: 79 bhp and 141 Nm
  • Combined Power: 114 bhp
  • Gearbox: e-CVT, front-wheel-drive only

The AWD system remains available only with the mild hybrid setup and now comes with an automatic gearbox, offering better convenience for those looking for more traction and drivability in challenging conditions.

Competitors and Market Position

The updated Grand Vitara was launched just a day after Toyota introduced the updated Urban Cruiser Hyryder – its platform sibling. With these updates, the Grand Vitara aims to strengthen its position against key rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq.

Final Thoughts

With a updated feature set, improved safety across the board, and new variants that provide more choices to buyers, the 2025 Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara becomes an even more compelling option in the midsize SUV segment. The availability of a more affordable strong hybrid variant and the addition of an AWD automatic trim will particularly appeal to buyers looking for performance, comfort, and fuel efficiency.
