Mahindra has made a small but important change to its popular SUV, the XUV700. The company has discontinued the AX3 variant, which was part of the AX lineup. That means you can no longer buy this variant that earlier sat between the MX and the higher AX5 trims. It was last priced between ₹16.39 lakh and ₹18.59 lakh (ex-showroom).
Along with the AX3, Mahindra has also removed all 5-seater versions of the XUV700. This includes the entry-level MX, AX5 Select, and AX5 trims — all of which are now available only as 7-seaters. If you are looking for a 6-seater, you will have to go for the more premium AX7 or AX7L variants. These are still offered in both 6- and 7-seat layouts.
Even with this change in variants, the design of the XUV700 remains the same. The SUV continues with its bold front look featuring LED headlights, C-shaped DRLs, a black grille with silver slats, and a sturdy-looking bumper. The side profile has 18-inch alloy wheels and body cladding, giving it a tough SUV stance. At the back, you still get wraparound LED tail lights instead of the connected LED bar seen in newer SUVs.
Inside the cabin, Mahindra offers a dual-tone black and ivory white interior with comfortable seats and a clean dashboard. If you choose the Ebony edition (only in AX7 and AX7L), you will get an all-black interior. The dashboard houses two large 10.25-inch screens and a stylish 3-spoke steering wheel. There are premium touches too, like faux wood on the doors and a panoramic sunroof.
Other key features include dual-zone climate control, a 12-speaker Sony sound system, ventilated front seats, and a 6-way powered driver’s seat. Safety is also a strong point, with up to 7 airbags, a 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake, and Level 2 ADAS.
Mahindra is offering the XUV700 with two engine options. One is a 2-litre turbo-petrol that makes 200 PS and 380 Nm. The other is a 2.2-litre diesel that produces up to 185 PS and 450 Nm, depending on the variant. You can choose between a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The diesel also comes with an optional all-wheel-drive (AWD) system.
With these updates, the Mahindra XUV700 now starts at ₹14.49 lakh and goes up to ₹25.74 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). It competes with other 3-row SUVs like the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, and MG Hector Plus.
