Maruti Suzuki Baleno has performed well in the latest Bharat NCAP crash test. The car received a 4-star rating for adult safety and a 3-star rating for child safety. This result is for the made-in-India Baleno that is sold through Nexa dealerships.
Bharat NCAP tested two versions of the Baleno: one with 6 airbags and another with 2 airbags. Both versions scored differently in some areas, but the child safety rating remained the same.
In adult occupant protection:
In child occupant protection, both versions scored 34.81 out of 49.
During the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test, both variants scored 11.54 out of 16.
But in the Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test, the scores were:
The Baleno comes loaded with several important safety features. It includes Electronic Stability Control (ESC), ABS with EBD, Hill Hold Assist, and dual airbags as standard. The higher variants offer six airbags for added protection. The car also has front seatbelt pre-tensioners with force limiters, a speed-sensitive door locking system, and a speed alert system. Other useful features include a 360-degree parking camera, reverse parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat mounts, auto-dimming IRVM, and three-point seatbelts for all passengers.
Maruti Suzuki has improved its safety game, and the Baleno’s Bharat NCAP rating shows that. The higher-spec Zeta and Alpha variants offer more protection due to extra airbags. While the lower variants like Sigma and Delta still provide decent safety, the top-end models add more peace of mind.
Overall, a 4-star rating for adults and 3 stars for child safety is a solid result for one of India’s best-selling hatchbacks.
