Kia is getting ready to reveal the next generation Seltos on December 10. The company has shared the first official teaser, and it confirms that the SUV is getting a full design overhaul. The current Seltos still sells well, so Kia seems to be aiming for a bigger and more premium look with the new model.

From the teaser, the new Seltos gets a wider Tiger Nose grille with more chrome. The LED DRLs are vertical and much sharper than before. The headlamps now sit inside the outer edges of the grille and have C-shaped and horizontal LED signatures. The teaser also confirms an LED welcome animation, which will play every time the driver approaches the car. Kia has also shown a panoramic sunroof, which is expected to be part of the higher trims.

Spy shots have already given a glimpse of the overall shape. The new Seltos looks more upright and more SUV-like compared to the current model. The wheel arches look more pronounced. The rear tail-lamps are expected to get a wider connected LED bar to make the SUV look bigger on the road. Kia is clearly trying to give it a more global design language, similar to its newer SUVs in international markets.

Inside the cabin, the next generation Seltos is likely to feel more premium. A larger connected dual screen layout is expected. It may get a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen, along with a smaller climate control screen. The materials and finish are also expected to improve. Features like ventilated seats, ambient lighting, a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, and a new sound system could be offered. ADAS is also likely to stay and may get improvements in higher trims.

Kia may continue with the same engine options. The 1.5 litre petrol, 1.5 litre turbo petrol, and 1.5 litre diesel engines are expected to return with small refinements. There is also strong speculation that Kia will offer a strong hybrid powertrain globally. If Kia brings this hybrid option to India, it will help the Seltos compete directly with hybrid SUVs that offer better fuel efficiency.

Price will be an interesting factor. The current Seltos starts from around Rs 10.79 lakh. With new features and a premium cabin, the next generation model will likely move slightly upmarket. If Kia brings the hybrid to India, the hybrid trims will sit at the top of the lineup.

The next generation Seltos launch is important because the midsize SUV segment has become very competitive. Buyers now want a car that looks premium, offers strong features, and feels future ready. Kia seems to be focusing on these exact points. The new design makes the SUV look more confident. The expected cabin upgrades make it feel more premium. A hybrid option will help it stay relevant for many years.

In my view, the next generation Seltos makes sense for buyers who want a stylish midsize SUV with a more modern look and a more comfortable cabin. If you are planning to upgrade in 2026 and want something premium without going into a higher segment, the new Seltos could be worth considering. If Kia gets the pricing right, this new version may become one of the most attractive choices in its class.
