Jeep has officially unveiled the third-generation Compass SUV. The new model is built-on Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform and brings evolutionary design changes, a tech-rich interior, and multiple electrified powertrain options. It will be produced in Melfi, Italy, and is already available to order in Europe. Deliveries are expected to begin in Q4 2025.

The third-gen Compass draws inspiration from the larger Grand Cherokee. It gets a bolder front fascia with a blanked-off 7-slot grille that is partially illuminated, flanked by sleek rectangular LED matrix headlamps. The front bumper features aggressive black cladding, a central air intake, and air ducts in the wheel arches to improve aerodynamics.

From the side, the SUV continues with squared-out wheel arches and strong shoulder lines. The window line pinches slightly towards the rear, and a blacked-out roof contrasts with the body colour. The rear gets a new light bar connecting the two-part LED tail lamps, along with an illuminated Jeep logo. A redesigned rear bumper completes the muscular look.

Dimension-wise, the new Compass is 4,548 mm long and has a 2,795 mm wheelbase—150 mm and 159 mm more than the previous model, respectively. This results in improved cabin space, especially for rear passengers.

The interior of the Compass sees a major overhaul. It now gets a 16-inch touchscreen infotainment system as standard, paired with a 10-inch digital instrument cluster. The dashboard features slim AC vents, touch-based controls, and a clean centre console that houses a rotary drive mode selector and a red terrain mode button.

Premium materials like aluminium and wood trim are used across the cabin, giving it a more upmarket feel. Key features include a panoramic sunroof, head-up display, wireless charger, connected car tech, and OTA updates. Jeep says the longer wheelbase improves rear seat legroom by 55 mm, while boot space now stands at 550 litres.

The third-gen Compass comes with three electrified powertrains. It starts with a 145 hp 1.2L 3-cylinder petrol mild-hybrid using a 48V system and 0.9 kWh battery. The plug-in hybrid (PHEV) pairs a 1.6L 4-cylinder engine with a 125 hp electric motor, offering a combined output of 195 hp and a 21 kWh battery.

The all-electric Compass is available with two battery options: 73 kWh and 97 kWh. The 73 kWh variant delivers 213 hp and up to 500 km of range (WLTP), while the 97 kWh version offers 233 hp and a range of up to 650 km. Both are front-wheel drive by default, but buyers can opt for the 4xe all-wheel drive version, which adds a 179 hp electric motor at the rear, bringing the total output to 375 hp.

Despite its electrified focus, Jeep has retained the Compass’ off-road character. It gets raised suspension for 200 mm ground clearance and a maximum water wading depth of 470 mm. The approach, breakover, and departure angles stand at 20°, 15°, and 26° respectively, while the AWD variant adds a 10 mm suspension lift and improves these angles to 27°, 16°, and 31° respectively.

As confirmed earlier, the third-gen Compass will not be launched in India. Jeep’s parent company Stellantis reportedly found the STLA Medium platform commercially unviable for the Indian market. The current Compass continues to be sold in India with occasional special editions.
