Toyota has launched its much awaited mid-size sedan the Toyota Yaris in India. The Yaris has been launched at an introductory price of Rs 8.75 lakh for the base J variant and going up to Rs 14.07 lakh for the top-spec VX variant. Bookings have already opened for an amount of Rs 50,000. The Yaris will be available in MT and CVT both options.
The Toyota Yaris comes a single petrol engine. The Toyota Yarish is powered by 1.5-litre, four-cylinder engine which generates max power of 107hp and a peak torque of 140Nm. The engine is mated with a six-speed manual gearbox or a the optional 7-step CVT automatic gearbox.
The Yaris comes with features including a tyre pressure-monitoring system, gesture control for the touchscreen infotainment system, adjustable three-neck restraints for the rear seat, 60:40 rear seat split, roof-mounted rear air-con with ambient lighting, a powered driver’s seat and front parking sensors. Paddleshifters would not be available with base trim.
The Toyota Yaris comes with safety features including front and rear parking sensors, Hill-Start Assist, all-wheel disc brakes, seven airbags (including a driver knee airbag), EBD, ABS and ESP.

The Toyota Yaris will compete with Maruti Suzuki Ciaz (Rs 7.83-10.63 lakh), Volkswagen Vento (Rs 8.19-12.49 lakh), Hyundai Verna (Rs 7.99-12.56 lakh), Honda City (Rs 8.71- 13.70 lakh) and Skoda Rapid (Rs 8.36-12.21 lakh).
