Triumph Motorcycles has launched the updated version of Tiger 1200 range in India. The 2018 Tiger 1200 has been launched in in single variant – the XCX and it is priced at ₹ 17 lakh. According to company this is the most advanced range of Tiger motorcycles ever. The new Triumph Tiger comes with more than 100 updates.
The new Tiger 1200 is 11 kg lighter than the previous model. The company reduced the weight on the chassis, engine and the exhaust. The 2018 Tiger 1200 comes with the updated electronics including traction control, up to six riding modes, Hill-hold assist, cornering ABS, ride-by-wire throttle, optional heated grips, seats and 12V power outlets and electrically adjustable windscreen.
The 2018 Tiger 1200 is powered by a 1,215 cc in-line three motor same as earlier which generates max power of 139 bhp at 9,350 rpm and a peak torque of 122 Nm at 7,600 rpm. The engine is mated with a six-speed manual transmission which also gets a bi-directional quickshifter.
The 2018 Tiger 1200 also gets the new 5-inch fully digital instrumentation console, adaptive cornering lights, all LED lighting, backlit switchgear, and an updated cruise control.
At the front, the new 2018 Tiger gets electronically adjustable 48 mm WP upside down forks with 190 mm of travel. At the rear is a WP monoshock, which has a travel of 193 mm and is also adjustable. The new Tiger comes with twin 305 mm disc brakes with Brembo four-piston callipers and a single 282 mm disc with a Nissin two-piston calliper.
The new Tiger 1200 will compete with the Ducati Multistrada 1200 and BMW R 1200 GS.
