Kia has officially launched the all-new 2025 Carens Clavis MPV in India, with prices starting at Rs 11.50 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). The Carens Clavis is being positioned alongside the existing Carens and is offered in a wide range of variants: HTE, HTE (O), HTK, HTK Plus, HTK Plus (O), HTX and HTX Plus. With this launch, Kia is aiming to cater to both family-focused and premium MPV buyers with a fresh design, advanced features, and multiple engine options.

Exterior Design and Styling

The Kia Carens Clavis boasts an aggressive and upright design language. The front fascia features a distinctive three-pod LED headlight setup, highlighted by inverted V-shaped LED DRLs that give the MPV a modern and futuristic appearance. The headlamps are housed in a triangular enclosure that enhances the sporty design. The front grille has a blanked-off treatment, which is in line with Kia’s latest design philosophy, and the lower bumper incorporates rugged black cladding, horizontal air inlets, and a faux silver skid plate for a tough look.

On the side, the Carens Clavis sits on striking 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels that enhance its road presence. Rugged black cladding runs across the wheel arches and lower doors, giving the MPV a muscular stance. Additional premium touches like chrome-finished door handles and silver roof rails further elevate its design.

Moving to the rear, the Carens Clavis gets connected LED tail lamps for the first time in the Carens lineup. These sleek tail lights span across the tailgate, adding a modern and cohesive look to the rear profile. The bumper design echoes the front with black cladding and a silver faux skid plate, reinforcing the rugged and sporty vibe.

Kia is offering the Carens Clavis in eight monotone colour options, which include Gravity Gray, Aurora Black Pearl, Glacier White Pearl, Clear White, Imperial Blue, Pewter Olive, Ivory Silver Gloss, and Sparkling Silver.

Interior and Features

Inside, the Carens Clavis looks and feels premium. The cabin theme differs based on the variant – higher trims get a navy blue and beige dual-tone scheme, while the base and mid-spec trims feature a black and beige combination. The dashboard design is modern, featuring fabric trim with a silver accent running across it. A key highlight is the dual 12.3-inch free-standing screens – one for the infotainment system and the other for the digital instrument cluster.

The MPV features a new two-spoke steering wheel design, similar to the one seen on the Kia Syros, which adds to its premium appeal. Below the infotainment system, there is a new touch-enabled control panel that allows users to switch between air conditioning and infotainment controls using physical knobs and soft-touch buttons, a practical yet advanced setup.

Seating is equally well thought out. The Carens Clavis offers both 6-seater and 7-seater configurations. The 6-seater layout, which includes captain seats in the second row, is exclusive to the top-spec HTX Plus variant. Upholstery is finished in beige leatherette, offering a plush feel across the cabin.

As expected from Kia, the Carens Clavis is packed with features. It comes with a panoramic sunroof, an 8-speaker Bose sound system, ventilated front seats, and a 4-way powered driver’s seat. Rear passengers benefit from dedicated air conditioning vents in both the second and third rows. Paddle shifters are included for added driving convenience. While the dual 12.3-inch screens are impressive, it is important to note that they do not support wireless Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. However, the lower variants with an 8-inch touchscreen do offer this wireless connectivity.

Safety and ADAS Features

Kia has equipped the Carens Clavis with a comprehensive safety package. All variants come with 6 airbags as standard, ensuring occupant safety across the range. Additional features include a 360-degree camera with blind-spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, disc brakes on all four wheels, and an electronic parking brake with auto hold function.

The Carens Clavis also includes Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Key features include adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist, which enhance both convenience and safety, especially on highways and long-distance drives.

Engine Options and Specifications

The 2025 Carens Clavis is available with three engine options – two petrol and one diesel. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine delivers 115 PS of power and 144 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine is more powerful, producing 160 PS and 253 Nm of torque. It is offered with multiple transmission options including a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed iMT (clutchless manual), and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT).

For those who prefer diesel, the Carens Clavis comes with a 1.5-litre diesel engine that churns out 116 PS and 250 Nm of torque. Transmission options for the diesel variant include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
