Nissan has officially launched the CNG version of its popular compact SUV, the Magnite, in India. Prices for the Nissan Magnite CNG start at ₹6.89 lakh and go up to ₹10.02 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings will begin from June 1 across 7 states – Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, and Karnataka.
This is not a factory-fitted CNG model. The kit will be retrofitted at government-authorised fitment centres, with the installation handled by the brand’s partner Motozen. The CNG option is only available with the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 5-speed manual gearbox.
You will need to pay an additional ₹75,000 over the petrol variant for the CNG kit. It comes with a 3-year/1 lakh km warranty, which is offered by the kit supplier.
Here is the full price list for all variants (ex-showroom, India):
| Variant | Petrol Price | CNG Price |
|---|---|---|
| Visia | ₹6.14 lakh | ₹6.89 lakh |
| Visia Plus | ₹6.64 lakh | ₹7.39 lakh |
| Acenta | ₹7.29 lakh | ₹8.04 lakh |
| N-Connecta | ₹7.97 lakh | ₹8.72 lakh |
| Tekna | ₹8.92 lakh | ₹9.67 lakh |
| Tekna Plus | ₹9.27 lakh | ₹10.02 lakh |
No changes have been made to the features or safety equipment. Only the fuel system has been upgraded to support CNG.
The CNG option is only offered with the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. The regular petrol version makes 72PS and 96Nm, but power figures for the CNG version are not revealed yet. As expected, performance could be slightly lower in CNG mode. There is no CNG option for the turbo-petrol engine or the AMT/CVT variants.
The Nissan Magnite continues to offer a solid feature set across its variants. It comes equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports smartphone connectivity, alongside a 7-inch fully digital driver display. The in-cabin experience is further enhanced with a 6-speaker sound system tuned by Arkamys and a wireless phone charger. Convenience features such as automatic climate control with rear AC vents, ambient lighting, a cooled glovebox, and an auto-dimming inside rearview mirror make the cabin more premium and comfortable. On the safety front, Nissan offers six airbags as standard, along with advanced features like hill start assist, traction control, rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ensuring a well-rounded safety package for urban and highway driving.
The Nissan Magnite CNG is priced lower than the Tata Punch CNG and Hyundai Exter CNG. It also competes with the Renault Kiger CNG, which also comes with a retrofit kit priced similarly.
Here is how it compares:
| Model | Price Range (ex-showroom) |
|---|---|
| Magnite CNG | ₹6.89 lakh – ₹10.02 lakh |
| Tata Punch CNG | ₹7.30 lakh – ₹10.17 lakh |
| Hyundai Exter CNG | ₹7.51 lakh – ₹9.25 lakh |
| Renault Kiger CNG | ₹6.90 lakh – ₹9.82 lakh |
The Nissan Magnite CNG is now one of the most affordable CNG SUVs in the Indian market. It is a good option for those looking for better fuel efficiency without losing out on features. However, if you want the extra power of a turbo engine or an automatic gearbox, you will have to stick to the petrol variants.
