Tata Motors has launched its much-awaited all-new hatchback Altroz in India. The all-new Altroz has been launched at starting prices of Rs. 5.29 lakh. Prices for the petrol variant start at Rs. 5.29 lakh and go up to Rs. 7.69 lakh, while the diesel version starts from Rs. 6.99 lakh and goes up to Rs. 9.29 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom India). The Altroz is the company’s first premium hatchback in the segment. The Altroz will be the first to be based on the ALFA modular platform (AMP). The Altroz will compete with the rivals including Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20 and even the Honda Jazz. The Altroz will get the advantage of big space and more features over the existing hatchback.

The all-new Altroz comes in 5 variants on offer XE, XM, XT, XZ and XZ(O). The base variant XE comes with features including 4-inch LCD instrument console, double barrel headlamps, steel wheels with hub caps, chrome finishing on the dashboard, and a standard steering wheel. It is equipped with safety features like ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, high-speed limiter and more. Dual front airbags, Eco and Drive mode comes as standard. Top-end variant is loaded with a bunch of features including dual-tone alloy wheels, front and rear armrests, rear AC vents with a 12-volt socket, auto climate control, auto headlamps, and rain-sensing wipers, projector headlamps with LED DRLs, LED fog lamps, multi-function steering wheel, one-touch auto down window (driver’s side), and leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob. The model also comes with customizable lighting for the infotainment system and console, ambient lighting, fabric upholstered seats, umbrella holder, 24 storage spaces and a lot more.

In terms of dimensions, the Tata Altroz measures 3990 mm long, 1755 mm wide and 1523 mm height. The Altroz comes with an unladen ground clearance of 165 mm and a 2501 mm long wheelbase. The weight of the petrol version is 1036 kg while the weight of the diesel version is 1150 kg.

The Altroz will be available in both petrol and diesel engine and both are BS6 compliant. The petrol version of the Tata Altoz is powered by a three-cylinder Revotron 1.2-litre engine which generates a max power of 85 bhp at 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 113 Nm at 3300 rpm. The diesel version is powered by a four-cylinder Revotorq, 1.5-litre Common Rail Turbo Intercooled oil burner which generates a max power of 89 bhp at 4000 rpm and develops a peak torque of 200 Nm at 1250-3000 rpm. Both the engines come paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, and currently, there is no automatic transmission on offer yet.

The Altroz is the first vehicle from Tata Motors which comes with a Voice BoT, which is a personalized, interactive voice experience for the Tata Altroz, using the Google Assistant. The Voice BoT is an assistant that helps the user to enhance their in-car connected experience. Users just have to say ‘Ok Google, Talk to Tata Altroz’ to activate the Google Assistant. Once the Google Assistant is activated you can ask any question about the car. The voice assistant can also be paired with the Altroz via Android Auto or Apple Car Play.
