The all-new Mahindra XUV700 is catching the eye of the Indian car market due to its unbelievably low price for a 7 seater SUV with first-in-class attractive features and a decent engine. Mahindra has marketed the new XUV700 as a core SUV and not an entry-level pseudo SUV.

XUV 700 was announced by Mahindra & Mahindra on 15th August( Indian Independence Day). XUV700 is the third SUV launched by Mahindra in FY2021 and it is expected to see the new Scorpio in FY2022. This clearly shows the companies intent towards shifting towards the core SUV segment and differentiate itself from the lately popular pseudo SUV segment.

Mahindra claims that the XUV700 is a complete package with a good engine, best-in-class features, and a rigid design that incorporates 7 seats.

Design

XUV700 is a successor of XUV500 and has inherited many of its design elements from XUV500. The XUV700 will come in both 5 and 7 seat configurations. The all-new Mahindra XUV700 has an eye-catching design and a good presence on the road. Some of its main highlights are-

Engine

The XUV700 is offered in both diesel and petrol engines. The price difference between petrol and diesel is almost 50,000. The Petrol engine is 2.0-litre TGDi( Turbocharged Gasoline Direct Injection) engine. It has 200PS horsepower(@5000 rpm) and 380Nm torque(@1750-3000 rpm) offered with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission. The diesel engine is a 2.2 Litre turbo diesel with CRDi (Common rail direct injection) engine. It has two variants. First is the 155 PS(@3750 rpm) and 360 Nm torque(@ 1500-2800 rpm). Second is the 185Ps(@3500 rpm) and 420 Nm torque (@ 1600-2600 rpm). Both are offered with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox.

There are loads of eye-catching first-in-class features offered in the new XUV700. The XUV700 comes in two series MX and AX. MX is the entry-level trim and still offers a lot of features while the AX is series is packed with features.

Pricing

XUV700 has very attractive pricing starting at 11,99,000 ex-showroom. The XUV700 is priced lower than the Mahindra Thar and much lower than its 7-seater competition TATA Safari and Hyundai alcazar.

Drive

XUV700 has good powerful petrol and diesel engine. Mahindra has claimed it to be a core SUV hence has an upright ride with a good presence. It offers zip, zap, zoom, and customizable drive modes. The leather 6-way adjustable seats make it a comfortable car to drive.

Competition

Mahindra XUV700 will be offered in both 5 seat and 7 seat options. Hence, it will compete with both 5 seater compact SUVs and & seater SUVs in the Indian car market.

 Its main 5 seat competitors are Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, MG Hector. Priced at almost the same price, XUV700 is a good competition to these cars.

The main 7 seat competitors are TATA safari, Hyundai Alcazar,MG Hector+. Priced at a slightly lower price than these cars XUV700 can be the choice of many car buyers.

Is It Worth Buying

The first-in-class features with a good engine and brilliant design make the XUV700 a complete package. With the strong price offered by Mahindra, the all-new Mahindra XUV700 will be hard to turn heads away from. 

It is definitely an option worth considering for both 5 seater and 7 seater options. It offers the perfect blend of a sporty SUV and a luxury family car which will survive well on the Indian roads. Hence, it is a good option to buy if you’re looking for a car with a good presence and extreme comfort.
